My dad runs Lenny, and he’s the best log-loader ever! **Page 5:** Lenny loads the logs—big, heavy ones—onto Larry’s back. Can you count with me? 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9… 10! All loaded up! **Page 6** With his trailer full, Larry heads home. Bumpity-bump, twistity-twist, down the dusty road he goes. He’s strong and steady—nothing stops Larry! **Page 7** Back in Golden, Larry pulls up to the mill. Guess who’s waiting? Grandpa! He works at the mill, and Larry’s logs are for him. **Page 8:** The logs come off—1, 2, 3, all the way to 10! Larry brought the forest to Grandpa. Teamwork makes it happen! **Page 9:** After a long day, Larry’s tired. He’s a hardworking truck, and now it’s naptime. Sleep tight, Larry the Logging Truck!

The story tells of a child and mother who have come into a homeless shelter due to domestic violence in their home. The child is nervous about their new home, but a small, scruffy grey and brown dog named Scarlett welcomes the family and tells them about Quanada house. Quanada house is a home for parents and children that people stay at when their home isn't safe. It is a safe place that looks like a big house with an upstairs that has 5 bedrooms. Throughout the story, Scarlett shows the family their room, the dining room and kitchen, and the playroom. Scarlett the shelter dog helps the child make their bed up in their new room and brings toys to help it feel more like home. The child is sad about leaving their home but scarlett makes them feel better. Then they go downstairs and watch tv and eat a snack in the family room. After they eat, they go upstairs and brush their teeth and go to sleep in their temporary home.

A few days passed and John Jr and Vasi were ready to plant. They poked holes for the seeds, then placed seeds and covered dirt over seeds. After planting , they gave a nice watering to their garden. 5. John Jr and Vasi looked after and watered their garden daily. A few weeks went by and there was some buds sprouting. A few more weeks later there was fruit and vegetables starting to form. 6.. As summer was closing in, the fruit and veggies were ripe and in abundance. John Jr and Vasi went out to the garden and picked all the fruits and vegetables. There was so much that they gave Granny and a few neighbors some of their harvest.
