The Dark Clouds
Emily and the Storm
Emily watched from her window as dark clouds gathered over her city. The wind howled through the trees, making the branches dance wildly. "Mom, I'm scared," Emily whispered, clutching her favorite teddy bear tightly. Emily's mom hugged her and said, "It's just a storm, sweetie, we'll be safe inside."

Suddenly, a bright flash lit up the sky followed by a deafening boom. The lights flickered and then went out completely, leaving the house in darkness. Emily gasped and grabbed her mother's hand, her heart racing with fear. "Don't worry, I know exactly where the flashlights are," Emily's mom said calmly, guiding them through the dark hallway.

As the storm raged outside, Emily helped her mom light candles around the house. "I can be brave like you," Emily said, standing a little taller as she carefully carried a flashlight. When they heard a knock at the door, it was their elderly neighbor Mrs. Wilson looking worried and alone. Emily surprised herself by saying, "You can stay with us until the storm passes."

The next morning, Emily and her mom stepped outside to see fallen branches and scattered debris. "Let's help clean up our street," Emily suggested, already grabbing a small rake from the garage. As neighbors emerged from their homes, Emily organized a team of kids to collect smaller sticks. Emily's mom smiled proudly, seeing how her once-frightened daughter had found her strength in helping others.
